Bridging History and Innovation for Sustainable Agriculture
In 2020, Number TEN was engaged by the Assiniboine Community College (ACC) to provide Schematic Design services for The Prairie Innovation Centre for Sustainable Agriculture (PIC). The project involved a building condition assessment and feasibility study resulting in a design solution that combined historic remediation and restoration, along with new construction for the redevelopment of the Valleyview Building at ACC’s North Hill Campus in Brandon, Manitoba. Currently under design, the new PIC involves the amalgamation of the existing agriculture and environment and related technology programs into an innovative learning centre with indoor and outdoor formal and informal learning spaces that support collaborative applied research and training.
Flexible event and industry space will encourage students to engage with their peers, faculty and industry experts and provide hands-on learning opportunities they might not experience in a traditional classroom. The facility will provide ACC with an innovative Student Services Outpost on their North Hill Campus, house advising services, counselling, academic testing and Indigenous student services. This student services hub will support ACC student life and learning while improving service delivery by centralizing technology and human resources.
