Neighbourhood-Style Workplace Strategy Fosters Efficiency, Collaboration and Wellness
Canada Life’s head office redevelopment implements a progressive corporate workplace strategy through a design aimed at improving efficiency, enhancing flexibility, accommodating a range of working styles, and encouraging an environment promoting wellness, teamwork, and collaboration. The design solution incorporates a range of sustainable design strategies to reflect the company’s commitment to corporate citizenship and community wellness.
Implementing a neighbourhood style planning concept was a priority for both Canada Life and the design team. This meant creating open work areas and removing closed offices around the perimeter of the building which closed off natural light to the center of the plan. This democratic approach to design revolutionized the experience offering impressive views of the Manitoba Legislative Building and downtown Winnipeg. Neighbourhood style planning promotes a collaborative work environment and encourages employees to become more agile and work in new ways supported by seamless technology.

The design team created a centralized public café which acts a meeting place and destination that repeats itself on every floor to support the feeling of community and connection. Booths in the workplace café create casual meeting spaces that provide acoustic privacy while grounding the space.
