Seven Stones Community School

Seven Stones is an innovative elementary school that provides new and exciting learning opportunities for the 21st century student. Together with Fielding Nair International and Regina Public Schools, and with significant community input through an integrated design process, the forward-thinking 21st century school is comprised of flexible teaching spaces designed to accomodate a variety of teaching methods.

Replacing an existing school on the same site, Seven Stones is divided into three independent zones called personal learning communities designed according to age group. Connected along a circulation spine that weaves through the facility’s unique geometric form, these learning communities contain flexible and collaborative spaces that foster interaction, teamwork and creativity.

Distinguished by separate entrances and colour patterns, the learning communities flow into a central commons where they join to form a colourful mosaic, symbolizing unity and collective strength. The commons includes a gymnasium, kitchen, media centre and library, along with administrative and teacher collaboration spaces. The school also houses a daycare and cultural space called the ‘Hawk’s Nest’.

Certified LEED®  Gold, Seven Stones implements advanced sustainable design strategies including in-slab radiant floor heating and cooling, a displacement HVAC system, high-efficiency boilers, and use of recycled materials and daylighting strategies within a high-performance building envelope.

Seven Stones is a winner of the People’s Choice Award (Pacific Northwest Region) as well as an Award of Distinction (International) from the Association for Learning Environments (Formerly CEFPI).
